Weyerhaeuser's Trus Joist TJI joist line is now available with the company's Flak Jacket coating that enhances fire resistance. This new TJI joist option provides builders with a simple, cost-effective way to achieve one-hour floor/ceiling assemblies and to comply with the new 2012 IRC fire protection requirements.
For instance, in multi-family buildings, TJI joists with Flak Jacket protection provide a one-hour fire-rated assembly with only a single layer of gypsum and no expensive mineral wool. The product is durable and does not require special tools or training to use — builders can cut and drill the joists as usual, and use standard hangers for quick and smooth installation.
