Houston-based David Weekley Homes last week announced the winners of its Partners of Choice Award, which recognizes the product suppliers that ranked highest in satisfaction by approximately 500 David Weekley staff members.

Boise Engineered Wood Products, Dow Chemical, iLevel by Weyerhaeuser, James Hardie, Simpson Strong-Tie are among the nine suppliers to be honored with “A,A” awards, which represent the highest possible ranking in both quality and service.

Seven suppliers were recognized with “A” awards for superior ratings in either service or quality, including GAF, Honeywell, Louisiana Pacific, Owens Corning, and Schneider Electric.

First implemented in 2004, the award is part of a comprehensive supplier evaluation system that analyzes supplier performance on a quarterly basis and honors outstanding achievers with a Partners of Choice award annually.

Under the process, DW team members are asked to rate each supplier’s performance on quality and service. Each company’s numeric scores are averaged and an alpha value assigned in relation to its relative ranking with all of the other DW National Trading Partners. Alpha values range from “A” to “F” in increments of 20 percent.

The awards are presented to suppliers who maintain either an “A,A” ranking for both quality and service or an “A” ranking in quality or service for the previous twelve months.

“The most unique thing about our process is that a company cannot achieve high scores without the support of its channel partners,” said Bill Justus, Vice President of Supply Chain Services for David Weekley Homes. “It fosters ‘channel alignment,’ which can be defined as everyone in the supply chain working together to deliver competitively priced goods and services to their customer, David Weekley Homes, effectively and efficiently.”
