Kohler takes the plunge into the cold tub trend with a new, unique wellness-focused offering: the Kohler x Remedy Place Ice Bath. It's the kick off to Kohler's partnership with Remedy Place, "the world's first social wellness club," located in New York and Los Angeles.

Kohler x Remedy Place

Remedy Place CEO Jonathan Leary, a chiropractor and now Kohler's lead self-care advisor, founded the club in 2019. It's most similar to a traditional spa but with less conventional wellness offerings and a focus on socialization—wrapped in ultimate luxury.

Remedy Place welcomes the public to take an ice bath breathing class with others or instead of opting for a traditional happy hour, consider a sauna suite. Other services include lymphatic compression, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, vitamin IV drips and shots, acupuncture, cupping, and cryo chambers. Memberships start at $9,000 a year.

The plumbing manufacturer says its partnership with Leary builds upon its mission to help people live “gracious, healthy, and sustainable lives." And there's likely more on the horizon than the ice bath, as Kohler hints at utilizing Leary to influence product development initiatives "that effectively address key market opportunities." If it's anything like Remedy Place's offerings, consumers could potentially see Kohler-developed oxygen chambers and red light beds.

“Dr. Leary and Remedy Place have demonstrated proven success with a dynamic offering of products and services,” said Katie Stevens, GM of Kohler Wellness, in the official press release. “Kohler has long provided our customers with bold and innovative products to help enhance their homes as a sanctuary for rest, recovery, and renewal—so working together in partnership with Dr. Leary will further advance our wellness design leadership.”

The Luxury Ice Bath

Ice baths have jumped in popularity in the last two years on social media, with celebrities and athletes sharing their love for the wellness trend. Cold plunges offer health benefits like improved circulation and reduced inflammation, though there remains debate, and studies on cold-water immersion remain inconclusive. Typical cold plunges feature temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and evidence suggests the practice reduces exercise-induced muscle damage, according to the Mayo Clinic.

The Kohler x Remedy Place Ice Bath mimics the sleek, dark aesthetics of Remedy Place's clubs, and is made of high-pressure laminate, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

The cold tub features precision temperature control, ergo-dynamic body positioning, a UV-powered filtration system, and an integrated light and timer that guide breathwork. The $15,000 tub includes optional plumbing integration for quick filling and draining, plus dimmable, ambient light surrounding the bath. Kohler's app, Kohler Konnect, offers guided breathwork sessions and additional education on the wellness practice.

Kohler is now accepting pre-orders for shipment in spring 2025.
